Bio

Arata Uemura | Born in 1997 in Fukuoka, Japan

“For me, art is the door for the new world.
Also me and all artists are the key to open the door and guide. And then when viewers appreciate art works, and they notice the distance between their world and the world, finally arts are completed like when a person notice another person, the person will be completed. My works' theme is based on this way of thinking. My works' ideas are from legends of ghost stories from Japan, folklores, and the dream world I have every night. About legends ghost stories and folklores, I always try to go to real spots, and research them as my experiences. Also I take notes of my dreams to be able to remember them anytime. I have many dreams at night, but all of them are in the same world, so it's clear that the dream world and our real world are different places. By expressing them in paintings, 3D work, and video works, legends ghost stories, folklores, and my memories of dreams leads viewers to extraordinary places.”
