Bio

Louisa L. is a French contemporary visual artist living in New York City. She is a member of The Art Stu-dents League of New York and of National Association of Women Artists. After living in London and Reun-ion Island, Louisa L. painted at La Grande Chaumière and Les Ateliers de Paris, before moving to New York City in 2014.
In 2015, she exhibited at ‘Best of France’, the world's largest event ever dedicated to France, on Times Square. One of her art pieces has been given to Brigitte Macron, the French First Lady. Pre-pandemic, af-ter several solo and group shows in New York, Louisa created NewYorkHer, a project combining painting and augmented reality, to show how women immigrants are reshaping the world. NewYorkHer was exhib-ited between March and December 2019 in New York, featuring 10 extraordinary women, all from differ-ent ethnicities, who have shown resilience throughout their unconventional lives and have inspired and continue to inspire so many other women.
“We have entered an era where supporting each other is more important than it has ever been, and where contributing to the community we live in has become inherent to who we are and what we stand for. I am using painting and technology to tell stories behind the canvas. Through the NewYorkHer project I created in 2019, I saw how my art had a positive impact on people, and on young women in particular, bringing them self-confidence.
My abstract and semi-abstract work, filled with light, conveys a universal message of freedom, love, resili-ence, multiculturalism and most of all, peace. Both the female and earth presence in my art are here to represent the source of life, humanity and diversity, and serve as a healing process. And the colors I am using are showing that life is not that dark after all.”
