Joanna Kucia is a self-taught surreal collage artist. She was born in Czestochowa, Poland, and currently, she lives and works in the UK. As a child, she loved the story telling, and photography opened a new world for Joanna, allowing her to express her dreams and emotions. Over the years devoted to photography, she focused mainly on surreal photo manipulation and collages. Through her works Joanna seeks to create moods, anecdotes, and universal symbols that move the viewer, encouraging reflection and positive emotions. She has published in Photographize Magazine and Paris Collage Collective publication “Surrealist Dreams 2021.” She has been selected by Photographize as one of them “Featured Artist”. She has exhibited in New York.
I’m a surreal collage artist which use digital processing and old photos as well floral motives for my work; I prefer soft, muted colors in my art pieces which brings a very calming feeling for my audience. Expressing my emotions through my art give me a passion to connect to others that my share the same feelings and thoughts as I do. I’m inspired by many things and sometimes quite bizarre (Dreams, books, music, people’s conversations, and artists). My workscreations are not only a window to another world but also a mirror of my dreams, fears and experiences. Hence, the surreal world is very close to my heart.
