Bio

Alexandra Schartner, who can often be found with her second name Alexandra Bohemia is a Moscow born and raised artist, architect, and urbanist, now working in between Germany, France, and Luxembourg.
Alexandra studied fine art history and had a Master of Arts degree in Architecture from the “University of Applied Science Saar”. Study, work, and art took her to numerous cities across West and Eastern Europe and North Africa, where she worked in multidisciplinary fields combining art and architecture. She has exhibited her varying works in Germany first starting in 2013. Within the ongoing series "the urban and the myth" Alexandra merges the metropolitan elements of urban life with the tranquility of the countryside, illustrates moments on the cross-border of cities and landscapes, thus documents her own synaesthesian way of urban perception. The colour coding of her cities, places and regions shows the ambivalence of space and time running through her artworks as colourfully as the tectonics of the shapes that forms cities out of colours. Through a colourful network of fine lines Alexandra synaesthetically perceives the connection of cities and subtly shows in her works the flow of time, the sound, and the lost distance between two or more places at the same time.
