"Chemical or mechanical vice? This phrase has been waiting in my notebook for almost 10 years. When I finished the piece, I felt the kind of liberation that a mother whose child is finally going to university might feel. A strange struggle between the sudden emptiness and the pride of those who know to have taken part in other people’s achievements. I had in my room the piece called "My sheets still ask for you", by Sara Herranz, and in a moment of sudden stillness, I wondered if the chemicals were just an excuse to admit that counting up to 10 is the new smoking. When you go back to your cigar, I would like you to imagine one of these transparent straws and remember that, technically, you are taking more than 10 deep breaths through a cylinder 5mm in diameter. By default, you are breathing deeply, aren’t you? So of course you feel more relaxed!
