Bio
Amalia Syakirah AMALIA SYAKIRAH is a multi-disciplinary artist with strong martial arts mastery. Growing up with a fascination for various forms of art and entrenched active lifestyle, she without hesitation jumped into fine arts schooling from La Salle SIA College of The Arts, Singapore and eventually found her belonging in a boxing camp in Thailand. Without realizing decades later, one fateful encounter with a simple idea would later wound up captivating her to her next chapter. As she advanced her skills in Thai boxing over the years, the dullness of the fighting equipment eventually gnawed at her artistic spirit. She would sketch and map ways to further improve the aesthetics and quality of boxing handwraps, whenever she finds the time. She eventually entrepreneur-ed her own hand wraps business; fabricated and designed her own exclusive boxing merchandize which operates till this day. Garnering confidence from the responses to her designs, she felt it was nigh time to explore her inherent joy for arts, as the sudden realization came over her when the excitement of fighting in the ring and painting were one of the same; marrying the two sentiments together in this expression. When her firm believes in that inspiration takes precedence, she is not one to shy from any medium that would benefit her conveying emotions to its fullest extent. She draws her ingenuity from the likes of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Joan Miró, Marc Chagall, to name a few; the boldness and emotions of their works keep her coming back; giving a sense of a timeless piece settling upon her sights. From these aspirations, she has developed a somewhat truculent style of painting with fearless titles and colours; similar to her personality as a martial artist, a fighter in nature!
