I divided the canvas into three parts (from left to right), even though they might not be visible anymore. They're connected through each other and through the borders of the painting, and they bleed into each other.
They represent three different levels of reality: first, the material world and thoughts. It's what most people perceive as real, as truth; things we can see, hear, touch. Things we think. Second, feelings and the subconscious – it's what I personally would describe as reality. And third, a part of reality that is not accessible through mind and matter, but only through heart and spirit.
I'm not entirely sure how to describe this third level, it might be some kind of next world, maybe one parallel to ours yet still connected; I think many things cannot be seen with the eye or understood by the brain alone, you need your heart to truly be able to grasp them. Maybe it's just energy – of all things and beings, no matter if living or not, or not anymore.
Visually, I wanted to show that the first level seems more organized in a way; and also somewhat familiar, it looks a lot like a night sky. But that's part of it, it's kind of bland. The second part, where emotion is more important than rational thinking, might look more chaotic; it's more intense for sure. The third part is supposed to be intense as well, but much calmer, more quiet, less agitated. There is supposed to be peace on the other side – at least that's what I hope.
