Lassie Kraemer
Painter
Bio
Born in 1989 and ever since then seldomly seen without a pencil in hand, Lassie has always loved art in all its forms. She did not have the chance to get a formal education, but studied whatever art-related material she could get her hands on since her early youth. With the internet, possibilities for self-studying became even better, and Lassie's art journey continued, eventually leading her into her favorite field: abstraction.
Lassie loves experimenting with different types of art supplies of all sorts, be it drawing and painting materials, painting grounds or virtually anything she can scribble on or with. Her main goal is to represent feelings too complicated to put into words, often tied to a specific situation she experienced. Frequently recurring themes are related to depression and anxiety, "feeling too deep and thinking too much."
Artist statement
While I cherish individuality and express very personal feelings through my art, I am also aiming to create works others can relate to. I believe everyone's reality is different and nobody experiences the world exactly the same like another person; but more often than not we find aspects in others we feel drawn to and understand deeply. If only one person looks at a painting of mine thinking “that's what it feels like,“ I must've done something right.
On the other hand, I also strive to create works that make people feel – no matter what or how, just feel something. Even if my intention might have been completely different from the feeling my art creates in the viewer – because that again shows no two people are the same, we experience so wildly different sometimes, yet connecting to others on a deep emotional level is one of the most precious feelings I can imagine.
