Holly Staniforth is a Manchester based photographer, having graduated in 2021 receiving a BA Hons in photography at a Manchester School of Art. She uses film-based photography, digital collage and bookbinding to create an abstract perspective, glimpsing into the world from a spectatorial view with a guiding hand. Sourcing images from her personal collection and other assorted archives, Holly manipulates the limits of colour to inject a playful nature into themes that counteract the visuals presented.
Cohesiveness is not an intrinsic aspect of my life, considered a hindrance, now an advantage. When viewed individually, each picture exists in its own space. When observed as fragments of an overlaying world, the playful nature allows for exploration through collage. Providing an outside perspective to the intricacies of the everyday, juxtaposed against a playful exterior, presented through a dream-like lens.
