Bio
Cecilia Wallstedt is a Swedish contemporary artist. Growing up with a grandfather who was a wood artist and painter brought her into contact with creativity and different art forms at an early age. She started painting as a child and went on to study theatre and art history at Stockholm University, where she obtained a degree in cultural studies. For a period of her life she moved to West Africa, progressing in her studies of cultural anthropology and deepening her interest in different cultures and artistic expressions. Her planned trip to South Korea was cancelled due to covid 19 and in the isolation of the pandemic, painting became the only way for her to travel and explore new cultures. Thus, she started to travel to Korean culture from home, giving birth to her current Korean feminist-inspired art project, underlining how women's rights and feminism are something really important to her and which is reflected in her art.
