Dark energy is so transparent that it cannot yet be detected with any instrument...but science is about to discover what it is: an imbalance in the quantum vacuum. This imbalance created the universe, increases its entropy and will eventually destroy it. We usually think that it is good for life to be balanced, but the reality is that only imbalance enables life and moves us forward.
