Masayuki Kosuge

Artist

Bio

Masayuki Kosuge, also known as Panta Ley, was born in 1981 in Kanagawa, Japan, a region near Tokyo.
At the age of 17, he was diagnosed with an unexplained illness that left him bedridden for about a year, prompting deep reflections on life from his hospital bed.
Later, at 32, he was diagnosed with a rare and incurable disease, which carried a risk of death. During his hospitalization, he shared a ward with lung cancer patients, an experience that profoundly shaped his thoughts on life and civilization.
At 33, he made his debut as a picture book author with the work LIFE IS.
These experiences inspired him to explore the pivotal moments in life, in people, and in history. His work often focuses on the “pivoting axes” of change, such as cultural trends and turning points.
