Death and rebirth.
Walking, running, falling. Struggling, resisting, standing still…
I first encountered the contemporary dance collective Zunchacha in 2022.
From the moment I witnessed their performance, I felt a deep urge to capture their physical expression, raw, instinctive, alive; within the vastness of nature.
Their usual playground is a flat, controlled stage, where freedom of movement thrives. But for this project, I proposed something completely different: a performance on the sand dunes, an environment inherently unsuited for dance.
Together, we stepped into this challenge.
The dancers and I were thrown into a battle with the elements. Sandstorms howled, rain poured down. Our bodies grew weary, our cameras failed. Yet we kept going, driven by something deeper than comfort or convenience.
Looking back, our own lives haven’t followed smooth or predictable paths. PROCESSION became more than a performance, it became a metaphor.
It is the embodiment of our struggles, our collapses, our stubborn determination to rise again.
It is a declaration: no matter how many times we fall, we will continue to move forward.
