Description:
“Arshaluys, Aurora, Mother Armenia” is a tribute to Armenian culture and women: its name comes from an Armenian woman, Arshaluys (Aurora) Mardiganian, a writer, actress, and survivor of the Armenian genocide. Arshaluys went through many horrible things, and was even sold in Slave Markets of Asia Minor/Anatolia from which she eventually escaped. For a little while, she was quite popular in the West, however many of her works ‘disappeared’: it is speculated that the Turkish government had something to do with the disappearance of her recollection of events.
