Cacun is an Argentinian born and an Armenian-Italian artist. Having lived in eight different countries and having the multi-ethnic background that she does, has undoubtedly shaped her as an artist and a human. If once her artworks were more focused on nostalgia, childhood and trying to find a sense of belonging, Cacun has recently decided to embrace in her art her Armenian roots: “I have found a sense of belonging in my people, I always looked around the world and told myself I had no home. Or that my home was everywhere, and I liked that feeling of unpredictability. I now realize that home is where the heart is, and my heart is with my people of Armenia”, she says.
The aim of her pieces inspired by Armenian culture and people is to bring to light and awareness the stories that are usually suppressed from history books and modern day media sites. Armenians, regardless of being one of the most ancient cultures in the World, are hardly represented and if they are, they are rarely fairly represented.
