Bio

Louisa Kruger Louisa Kruger is a South African contemporary artist. \"Self-taught, she paints freely and is bold in her use of colours and textures.\" - Fred Hatman (Fine Arts Photographer) Louisa stumbled into the liberating world of art when she took up a pencil in June 2019 during a trying time - having zero art background or -training. Some of her work was recently exhibited in the heart of the old city of Antibes, France, by Undiscovered Canvas. Currently her work is seen in: \t March and April 2021 issues of The World of Interiors (published since 1982 by Condé Nast Britain, but widely available on American newsstands.) \t Roche Bobois - Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa Her personal take on the origin and the purpose of art: “Doesn’t art sprout from the pain and oppression? Breed in the miry clay? Like character grows in hardship, it is beauty for ashes and life formed from mere dust? Surely it does not come from the comfort of our couches, from our common selves or from the fat of our days. But it emerges as a hope cry; a solid escape, flags a fearless freedom, regardless of our circumstances. It is a resilient pressing-on into colour and light. It is turning our mourning into dancing, illuminating the silver lining, being the eye of our storm, a perfect calm in chaos. A seat at the table in front of our enemies. From the first Artist, it’s a gift in winter. \" The style could be described as contemporary impressionist. Her first objects were mainly animals and portraiture, but her work now include abstracts, florals, and landscapes - versatile, vibrant, and free.
