Eleanor’s work is autobiographical; this digital drawing arose from a period of deep meditative reflection. Her work is diary-like, using the mediums of drawing and writing combined, giving the visual narrative a storybook quality. Eleanor’s life-long obsession has been of the explora-tion between the image and the word. The bath is a place where Eleanor sometimes finds epiphanies in thought, awash with renewal and fresh perspectives. The text reads: “Everything feels like living in a void. I can’t hear my own thoughts and my inner voice is distracted. But I’m glad I spent new year’s day doing absolutely nothing for once. I wonder what’s next for the fu-ture now. I realised how little I’d thought about change, even though I sense it coming. I am in the eye of a whirlpool of thoughts, but the greatest inspiration can come from nothing. I don’t feel bored – just blank, and eager to nurse the fire within me that wants to set a new world alight”. The work has made just as lockdowns in the UK started to lift.
