The right to exist as one is, beyond conventions and beyond others’ expectations. The right to show oneself and step out from the background — or, instead, the right to blend into it, to remain on the sidelines. The right to scream, to scream and say nothing, or to stay silent and observe, to scream inwardly. And this is exactly what the “creatures” in these works do: some try to emerge from the page, others try to blend into it, to go unnoticed, while others find harmony and balance within the scene.
