Painter

Bio

Valeska von Brase, born 1970, has immediately focused on painting right after finishing Gymnasium Casimirianum. She started to learn the basics at the Technical Artschool in Hamburg, educational home of many of the German 20th century artists and known for teaching the basics of fine arts. From 1992 to 1997, she studied art at the famous Accademia di Belle Arte Brera in Milan, Italy. Her own studio was opened in 1996 and is based in an old technical gas plant in Munich. Her work has been shown in many international exhibitions. Recently she has also contributed to the national exhibition “Denkraum Deutschland” in Munich Pinakothek der Moderne.
Valeska von Brase’s work literally illustrates the dualism between nature and society being both a source and threat for human growth: from constructing sensitive and abstract images of mankind in its environment to showing the destruction of the process of nature. Her creations are emotional and raw. Based on advanced techniques and deep understanding in artists of being the key generalists of our times. Painting the blunt, but abstract beauty of our lives.
