Francis Akpata is a British/ Nigerian painter and philosopher. He studied Philosophy at Kings College London and painting at the City Literary Institute. His works incorporate figurative and abstract painting techniques. His influences are Cubism, expressionism and African sculpture. In his entire body of work, Francis depicts the themes and ideas he is thinking about during that period. His works are characterised by an unflinching willing-ness to constantly experiment and push himself to create something new using a new technique or materials. He also writes about aesthetics, history of art and philosophy.
