What I see here is a character trying to blend in with her surrounding, but try as she may, she will always be something Other. But I think the vibe of this world is a good one. Our character may be different, the world may be dark and mysterious, but once you enter into that circle, you will be encompassed by a sense of belonging and safety. Maybe we too often consider ourselves more outside and different than we actually are.
