Info

Destination, multiple layers of acrylic on cradle-board with layers of clear glaze of medium varnish between layers, 16 X 20 inches

I created Destination while on vacation in Hilton Head, NC in November, so the area influenced the colors. I started with sections of black then added a base color of greens, adding in layers of lighter greens and turquoise as I continued to paint. Adding layers of glaze between each layer of paint gives more depth. Lots of blending of the layers helped to create movement throughout the canvas. The blacks and greens/turquoise combined with a dab of white developed into a purple tint. Near the end it needed a touch of contrast so small areas of Australian Sienna by Matisse were added.
