Bio
Abril Aranda A mexican born graphic artist with specialization in wood-print, metal-print and drawing. The intention behind my drawing comes from the original core, the place where pain and pleasure come hand to hand, flowing together and creating a sweet moment of stillness, tender, respect, power, beauty and profound admiration for another female’s form of energy. I find a strong inspiration in the japanese calligraphy. The fate of my line comes from the meditative act of staying present and being in the moments of connection between the outside and inside and making traces of it; something like translating the beauty of the energy that occurs around me. With these inscriptions I can be able to alchemize the violence that lives within me, liberating by producing these acts of self truth. I want to leave a trace, or even a scar, to not forget and at the same time honor my own elapse of existence as a female human being on this planet. I consider myself a feminist artist that explores with hers own “ink” (menstrual blood) as a way to print my true self in every trace with the truth that runs through my veins. That ink comes to the world to bring a message to all women: we have always owned our own power of creation and recreation, we die and reborn in that circle. So, of course we have the knowledge about how cycles of life work! We know the moment to hibernate, when to grow and when to blossom! When to die, and when to shine!
