Kat Fox is an award-winning American photographer known for her whimsical and colorful conceptual portraiture. Influenced by the pop art movement, Kat’s work reflects cultural zeitgeist through a retro and nostalgic lens. She enjoys exploring the role of imagination, play and the effect of color on human livelihood. Her minimalist approach to framing creates a sense of solitude and space. In addition to photography, Kat builds her own sets, sculpts, paints, and experiments with digital montage. She resides along the Southern California coast just north of Los Angeles.

Statement

Hysterica calls upon artists to delve into fear exploring how the unconscious would manifest if completely free to do so. Imagination is rife with nightmares and dreamscapes; sometimes I cannot tell them apart. Maybe the two are not disparate? My photograph Kinetic Dreaming is a reflection of this inner world. A dark and foreign landscape belies a cosmic ballet, a world of grace and wonder with an optimistic horizon. It is a reminder to find light and joy even in the midst of darkness.
