“Mother” is a an abstract depiction of an African woman carrying a basket on her head. She rep-resents a strong, hard working mother, gathering food for her family, no matter what obstacles she must face on the way. Only black and white paints were used to not distract from the wom-an’s strong physique, or symbolic role she plays. All the paint used in this painting was made from natural, non-toxic oils and pigments found on the earth.
