Lena França

Painter

Bio

Lena França Madalena França was born in 1960 in Porto, Portugal. After completing a bachelor’s in social studies in her hometown University, Madalena moved to Barcelona where she lived for nearly a decade. There, surrounded by the vibrant art scene of contemporary and past famous artists, her passion for painting was reborn. Even though Madalena worked as a social worker, she was always a painter at heart. When she moved back to Porto, she decided to follow her passion and dedicate full-time to painting and enroll at the renowned \"Cooperativa Árvore\" school of arts as well as to be mentored by Julia Pintão. Her current project ‘Alma colors by Lena’ is inspired by nature and women. With over 20 pieces sold world-wide the main techniques employed are acrylic and oil on canvas and mixed techniques. She has also collaborated with a team of scientists of Paris University for whom she commissioned a painting about the inner ear. Madalena describes her project as a “breadth of her soul to the heart of the public”.
