Bio
Geoffrey Grünwald is a German abstract artist living and working in Munich. Art was always a part of Geoffrey’s life and he grew up with art being all around him. Geoffrey’s grandfather, Carl Grünwald, was a locally and even internationally known artist and art dealer. His family had a big passion for art and collected artworks globally while traveling. As a young kid in the 90’s, while falling in love with the golden era Hip-Hop culture, Geoffrey got inspired by the colorful letter artworks and the “pieces” made by graffiti artists. He first started developing typographical art. In 2013, Geoffrey bought his first original artwork, which marked the start of his own art collection. Soon he started to collect more and more art from local and global artists. In 2020, with the Covid-19 pandemic leading to lockdowns across the globe, Geoffrey started to create art by himself. First, he was mainly inspired by artwork he collected but quickly found his own style in abstract art painting. The fast-growing stock of original artworks and the entirely positive feedback on his first works led Geoffrey to share his work on Social Media and go for the organization of first local exhibitions. All Geoffrey’s work consists of both, abstracted nature-based and purely non-objective works. He loves building layers of paint and the works he paints involve mainly colorful designs with line-based shapes. The artwork provide the viewer with a bold graphic element from a distance, but up close, they are rewarded with rich organic details. Geoffrey’s choice of color, shape, and style are empowering, happy, and positive and his pieces balance color and shape, creating a playful and uplifting dynamic.
