Ryan Walters, from Washington State, is a painter and picture framer.
He thinks that while aesthetics is given precedent over realism, all abstractions must be firmly rooted within the mutual understandings of artist and observer. Both paint and canvas must be coddled and/or abused to expose the full weight of the story present within a given work.
His process explores the emotions most present in his life, and those at work in the world around him. These emotions deserve a place of respect in the process of creation.
While the exploration of these emotional depths can lead to creative growth, it can also lay the groundwork for emotional turmoil. It is always alright to step away for the sake of mental health.
