Carmen Catalàn
Painter
Bio
Spanish artist, born in Navarra has been based mainly in Barcellona and Zaragoza, where she currently resides. She has been active since the 80s exhibiting her works in a number of exhibitions in Spain and internationally in France, Rome or New York. As member of various artistic associations, she has also participated in various group exhibitions.
A symbolist atmosphere predominates in her work, created in a variety of techniques from oil, acrylic or watercolor to natural pigments or recycled paper, with eloquent plasticity, and a strong expression thru light and color.
Her work has evolved from figurative artwork to what Carmen defined as visionary art. She explained this process:
“As I was painting the landscapes, in which I worked with truly pantheistic enthusiasm, the volumes and profiles that aimed for harmony in light and color, often transformed unintentionally into different presences from the metaphysic world”.
