Artistic Statement.
Nozomi strives to create works that evoke a sense of tranquility and highlight the presence of motifs within the canvas.
Each dot is conceived as a particle; as they gather and overlap, motifs emerge as objects on the canvas.
Since the perception of presence shifts depending on the viewer’s position, the artist hopes the work can be experienced and appreciated from various distances.
The Technique.
The works are created by punching aligned holes in paper with hole punches of different sizes, and then applying acrylic paint to them using a sponge.
The arrangement of colors is guided by close observation of the motif, layering tones that resonate with the overall color scheme established during the sketching stage.
