Bio
Abstract art is our own journey. Art we see, admire, and along with what we learn, all manifest what is placed on our canvas. As we all perceive life through our own sight, each and every artist has their own intimate version of what they envision. This Figurative abstract collection, Africa: Lives in Transition, exemplifies my journey through this beautiful land. These pieces were created technically with the method of mixed media - mixture of different mediums. There are several techniques varying between collage, soft pastels, charcoal ,acrylic paint and stamping that constitute each of these unique pieces. My experiences from my time in Africa, relay my energy through the brush strokes, choices of colors, the emphasis of the drawing and the details of my markings. Colors signify the beauty and feeling of the people and their land, their exhilaration and hopefulness. There are tones of desolation and affliction which mimic my own personal challenges, growth and observations. In my work I did use real references, photographs and my internal engraved memory, as guidelines to road map these pieces. As I learn to trust my personal cues, each piece has its own dialogue to communicate my impression, my perception and my story.
