My picture tells of this powerful state of shock, in which you just have to take a bold step into the unknown, even if it scares you. The picture was taken in the attic of a church in the Czech Republic. At that time, I had moved out of my home country of Finland about six months ago and traveled a lot while looking for my place in the world. I felt that I somehow betrayed my own mother by leaving her, although later I figured out that I needed this experience to become my own self. Artist: Riikka Korpela
