Bio

I’m Marta Solaz and I’m an emergent LA-based artist from Barcelona, Spain, where I studied Fi-ne Arts at the University of Barcelona.
I experience life through arts in different facets. As an actress, singer and visual artist, I bring all this knowledge to my passion for painting, which I am about dedicating nowadays.
My inner seeking aspect leads me to bring to my creations all of my spiritual research about philosophies such as Taoism, shamanism and sacred geometry.
I had the opportunity to exhibit my artworks in Madrid, Spain and in Los Angeles at “The Other Art Fair” promoted by Saatchi Art. Today I’m exhibiting in the show “The Hourglass Over-turned” at Arushi Gallery LA.
I use painting as a way to access inner parts of me through the images that I visualize, and materialize them with my hands. This process closes when the viewer acquires the image from the outside and takes it as a new part of itself, completing the circle.
I'm a multifaceted artist and spiritual seeker, and I perceive painting as a healing process.
Every color has a specific vibration, and beyond what I experience when I'm creating them, I in-tend with my painting to be a healing tool for who acquires it, and bring that vibration to new places. That's why in every image there is a pack of information to be released. A visual metaphor.
I use both oil and acrylic for canvas and watercolor combined with embroidery for paper creations.
I usually work on figurative images and expressive backgrounds. Basing on my own photography or vintage ones, looking for women from the past willing to give them the focus that they didn't have at that time.
But mostly, this process is bringing to my life tons of love, enthusiasm and satisfaction. For me to paint is Manifest, and since the word 'manifest' means 'Mani'= hand, ‘fest’=festivity, then let's celebrate with our hands!
