A special work because it represents a guardian. It is an archetype of strength, security inspiring the living nature to mirror itself in what sustains us. Lion is a tribute in my view to the Portuguese people who discovered this region - Brazil. The discovery generated a nation welcoming and receptive to all. The discovery route, the region where I live is a cozy tourist destination. Visitors fall in love with the place as well as the Portuguese... So the Lion, also a passionate living being, is in my rhetoric for his grandeur, security, cleverness, haughtiness, observant attitude. These leonine characteristics are also analogous to the behaviours that the Portuguese had and so in a set of imaginative thoughts, I created Lion. This Lion also represents a discreet predilection for my husband who is a companion person in my life. He is also called Leão. The work is composed of a 10 mm naval wood panel, hardwood from the region used in navigations and which was demolished to be used in frames. This wood has been washed by the sea and its unique rusticity frames everything with the most natural appearance possible. Other materials at Leão are glass inserts, stones, and ceramic pieces.
