Rosana Friederichs

Painter

Bio

After taking art classes during attaining her Bachelors in Interior Design at Miami International University of Art and Design, Brazilian born Rosana Friederichs began experimenting with paint-ing. Rosana can observe people’s personality, emotions, even their deepest wishes and secrets, and interpret them in the form of art. She describes herself as being in a trance while painting. Rosana’s grew up spending most summers with the German side of her family. As she says: “I have wonderful memories being in my godparent's home, Hermann and Teresa, painting every afternoon.” She uses her German family last name in her artistic name in honor of her godmoth-er, as well as artist Caspar Friedrichs. In summary, this artist is an emotional and expressive force. Her expressionist portraits are an expression of the strength and vulnerability found in each one of us.

Artistic statement
The deep lust for life that fuels my work runs in tandem with my sexuality, which finds its way into each brush stroke. My paintings reflect me, a woman who purposely challenges boundaries, who breaks rules so that her spirit can soar. My blunt ways of expressing thought can be intimidating for those afraid to be honest or to look deep within. But ultimately, my work is meant to in-spire—and awaken. I’ve looked to poetry and history as guiding lights, turning to artists and figures that have tapped into their feelings and discovered the freedom that comes with unin-hibited expression. It was eternally in them, waiting for the right moment to flourish. I speak about myself in those thoughts.
