This is how a great contemporary Italian musician, Caparezza, describes art and artists. There's not much more to add other than explaining how a pearl is created: "Pearls are formed when a foreign body, such as a grain of sand or a parasite, infiltrates a mollusk like an oyster. The oyster reacts to this intrusion to defend itself, secreting concentric layers of a substance called mother-of-pearl (or nacre) around the irritant. This natural process, which can take years, accumulates layers of mother-of-pearl until the precious gem is created." With this clear metaphor...
