Bio

For 30 years I have been a self-taught modern artist working intuitively with a child-like curiosity resulting in abstract pieces that are fun, whimsical, and full of energy. My children are a source of my inspiration and we feed off each other’s contagious energies which greatly influences my work. The use of dynamic tension in combination with the embodiment of “rule breaking” motto of O’Keeffe and Helen Frankenthaler, plays a big role in my life and creativity as a female artist. Each project is approached without judgement or precognition in a three-part process starting with my play stage, where my hands automatically start the flow state and move along the can-vas or paper at will. I then begin finding characters or themes that slowly reveal themselves at which point I introduce collage elements making it more tactile and dimensional. I relish what is revealed when striping away certain elements while highlighting others. Working alongside with nature, I experiment with varies types of charcoal that I hand harvest from leftover fires and in-corporate things that I find while on my nature walks; items such as loose bark, branches, unique sticks and twigs that get used for mark making. And finally, in my alchemist stage is where I add fine details and apply the chemicals, solvents, and waxes in my more elaborate works. I enjoy sharing my experiments, discoveries and train wrecks along the way and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
