Ikeya Takako
Artist
Bio
She studied Japanese painting at the Joshibi University of Art and Design, where she obtained a master's degree. She's currently studying for a doctorate at the same university.
She's trying to create new forms of expression that can be achieved with traditional Japanese painting materials, while at the same time being influenced by Western painting.
The basis of this expression is an extremely oriental idea. While using the familiar and everyday motifs of the human figure and plants, the consciousness yearns for a spiritual world that has no form.
The work is not just realism. It is an abstract expression. The artist searches for a form of expression that is not mere realism, but a way of leading the viewer into an abstract, conceptual world.
