Bio
Born in Athens, raised in Nicosia. Studied Fine Arts and Education in England, specifically at the University of Plymouth, East London and Goldsmiths. I have been working as a secondary school art teacher for more than 15 years, fascinated by the idea of the creative development of young people by exploring new and contemporary concepts. At the same time I have kept my own creativity active by making mostly two dimensional pieces.
If I must categorize my style of expression into a suitable art genre, then that would possibly fall into the pop surrealism spectrum, although I think the creative process is and must be in a constant flux. In the last couple of years I have been producing drawings and focusing on portraiture. My aim is to focus and explore how shape, texture and concept can signify different roles that we adopt. It comes out more like a puzzle of various characteristics of one’s personal, social and sexual identity combined with emotional states of mind. All these elements are put together in order to co-exist in a single polymorphically perverse composition.
