Bio

Fernando Garbellotto was born in Portogruaro - Venice - in 1955. His artistic research, which began after his humanities and law degree, took a turn at the end of the 1980s when, fascinated by Mandelbrot's theories on fractal geometries, he traced a new field research that continues today. He develops his research within the Venetian artistic environment and carries out exhibition activities in various public galleries and private spaces. In 1997 he founded in Milan with other artists the "Italian Chaos" movement with which he exhibited in many Italian and foreign public spaces including the State Museum of Novosibirsk which acquired two of his works. In 2005 Paolo Cardazzo created his monograph published by the Cavallino di Venezia. In 2006 he comes to the elaboration of what he himself defines the synthesis point of his research: the "Fractal Networks". Intense exhibition activity: at the Academy of Fine Arts of Ripetta in Rome, at the Civic Museum of Labin in Croatia, at the Spazio Thetis in Venice, at the A. Calderara Foundation in Vacciago. Among the two important anthologies of Palazzo Tornielli in Ameno in 2009 and of Palazzo Crepadona in Belluno in 2012, the video performance at the Peggy Guggenheim in Venice, the participation in the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, the presence at the exhibition “Tra - Edge of Becoming ”, curated by Axel Vervoordt and finally the participation in the Venice Film Festival with the video“ Fractal Net Singing ”, whose soundtrack is made by pop star Elisa. In 2014 he recorded in London, in collaboration with the prestigious MET School, the video: “Fractal Net Dancing”. He exhibited between 2017 and 2019, at Palazzo Sarcinelli in Conegliano, at the TAG Gallery in Lugano and, presented by Giovanni Bianchi, exhibited at the Civic Museums of Treviso "Space as a Condition - Mario Deluigi, Fernando Garbellotto". Finally, in 2020 he exhibited his fractal networks at the Cesare Pavese Foundation in S.Stafano Belbo. Two of his personal exhibitions are currently underway, curated by Anselmo Villata, the first at the MACA in Acri, the second at the Federico II Museum in Jesi.
