Bio
David was born in 1943 in England, grew up on a small dairy far, went to the
local grammar school then to Birmingham University where he graduated in Physics in 1964.
He started his career in industry with ICI at Billingham, worked in various roles until 1985
when he started his own consultancy business.
On retiring he studied Fine Art at Teesside University graduating with an MA in 2016.
He has a wife, three sons and two grandchildren. With his wife and three dogs
he recently downsized to a bungalow in Shildon (the birthplace of the railways).
When David King retired from business he wanted to fulfill a lifelong dream
of devoting more time to art. His recent evolution along that path has been influenced
by a number of interferences: studying for an MA in Fine Art at Teesside University;
participating in an art residency in Canada; working with other professional artists
with a strong focus on colour; moving to Shildon and feeling a strong empathy
with its history as the birthplace of the railways.
“My art is now grounded in the interferences arising from these experiences.
I have drawn and painted pictures throughout my life.”
