The artist creates an almost perpendicular sinking of an indefinite form, an entity without defined contours, which seems to reach out to the mysterious depths of our being. This representation of immersion has a profound and symbolic mean-ing. It represents man's constant quest to explore the depths of the human soul, to go be-yond the surface of things and discover hidden truths. In "Immersion," D'Andrea takes us on a metaphorical journey inside our unconscious, a journey in which the individual is transported into a world of thoughts, emotions and memories that reside below the sur-face of consciousness. The indefinite form that sinks into the painting represents the ab-sence of limits and boundaries in the search for human essence. But it sinks not into a hint of a body but into a mental landscape that re-presents man's conflicted relationship with the environment. It is a testimony to our ongoing struggle to understand who we are, where we come from and what our place is in the universe. Immersion into the uncon-scious is an act of exploration, an attempt to tune into our deep roots and connect with the collective memories of humanity.
