“My name is Dylan Annis. I find it difficult to explain my work, how I paint, why I paint the things that I paint, or why I even paint at all. I guess that my obsession with art started at a young age, I grew up in the city of Philadelphia, the city is filled with art, but the area of the city that I grew up in was considered incredibly dangerous. Oftentimes going outside wasn't safe, so I stayed inside. Drawing and painting started of as a way to pass the time, and then it became something more; art became a form of therapy for me, a purpose, a way to process the things that I've seen and the ways that I felt. I like to think that every one of my paintings holds a story maybe it's deeply personal to me or maybe on a more broad spectrum, but functional in some cathartic way. Some people find meaning in love, some people find it in family, some people have god…. I have this. I hope you find mean-ing in it too.”
