Bio

Sarah Trundy Artist Statement: I have always been fascinated by the power of the mind. Consciousness gives way to subjectivity, which often clashes with reality. This tension is where I draw inspiration. Everyone has a unique landscape of ideas, thoughts and emotions. I hope my art can provide a glimpse into another individual’s state of mind. I believe we are starving for authenticity and beauty, and I am compelled to create it. I aspire to create images that resonate with the viewer by provoking a deep connection to the subject. It is this human condition, which we all experience differently, that we can all relate to. Artist Biography: Sarah is an Artist working out of Richmond, VA(USA). She grew up in Northern Virginia, right outside of Washington DC, where she had the fortune to routinely visit many of the amazing museums in the capitol. She attended classes at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in DC, and the VCU School of Arts in Richmond. She continued her education completing the Mastery Program at the Milan Art Institute. Sarah has been working as a freelance Artist, completing countless portraits and commissioned projects over the past decade. Since childhood, art has been an essential part of her life. She would use every spare moment to sketch, and that is still the case. Focusing mainly on likeness and images of the figure, the human subject is a key theme in her work. Sarah has always been drawn to the subject of consciousness and what the human brain is capable of. She is inspired by theory of mind and how that interfaces with the outside world. She is driven to create an intellectual and emotional connection between the subject of her works and the viewer. Sarah ’s ultimate goal is to create authentic and beautiful art that simultaneously provides insight into unique individual experience and the shared human condition. Sarah is currently working on a series of original and conceptual paintings soon to be released. When she is not working in her studio, she is spending time with her husband and dog, often adventuring outdoors and soaking up the sun. Sarah loves to travel and experience different cultures and lifestyles. She hopes to visit as many places as she can, and let her travel inform her art. She is a believer that one must be a lifelong student; she intends to always learn, study, and seek truth. One day she has plans of expanding her work and opening a gallery.
