Transgressions 2 is the second work in a series that represents an exploration of emotion through portraits of fictional women as they actively navigate spaces that have been previously closed off to them – internally and externally. The term “transgressions” refers to infringements, violations of social norms, or sins that can lead to the hope of receiving wisdom or divine forgiveness in order to move on. Nancy Jo Ward artfully integrates digital paintings of eleven women as they navigate the margins, becoming colorful, moving digital artifacts and slide into and out of the rift of labels, uncertainty and discomfort.
