Bio

Christopher König My name is Christopher König. I was born on March 11th, 1993 in Karlsruhe. I graduated from high school at the \"Carlo Schmid School\" in the social science high school. I have been interested in drawing since early childhood. The need to express myself graphically and creatively has accompanied me through every phase of my life so far. After completing my Abitur, I studied the \"Culture and Media Education\" course in Ludwigsburg with a major in Art and Music as a Bachelor of Arts. For me personally, music has always been a source that gives me ideas and inspiration for my creative work. For as long as I can remember, I have always striven to relate the world of music to the visual arts. At the Ludwigsburg University of Education, I started to deepen my knowledge within artificial expression. In terms of drawing, I prefer to express myself with ink and painterly I work with spray cans and acrylic paint. I apply the colors directly to the canvas or paper. I try to paint as musically as I can. I change my media constantly so that there is no stagnation. I always try to play with the different qualities and structures of the painterly media, which have different effects on the canvas and on the paper. When dealing with the media as a tool, I continually try to maintain a certain openness. During the painting / drawing process I am consistently looking for music that inspires me personally and that “speaks” to me. Like a kind of lexicon, I collect music from different decades, from all possible genres. I don't make any personal compromises here. However, I find the concept of cross-fertilization a very useful one. Music was and is my personal leitmotif in art and I often name the titles of my works after certain songs. Unfortunately, I was addicted in my life and suffered from depression and anxiety and went through a few personal crises. Art has always helped me to get my bearings and support. The music gives me the necessary strength and consistency not to give up. Since I was almost mentally on the brink, I am all the more grateful today to be able to express myself artistically every day and to bring joy to other people. I draw this connecting character in the visual arts, out of music, to bring people together, regardless of their political or religious outlook. At the beginning I always tried to put the rhythm, the harmony from the music that I hear on the drawing paper, or on the canvas. Today I also like to paint for silence. I was musically inspired by bands and artists such as Depeche Mode, David Bowie, System of a Down, Nirvana, The Clash, New Order, ect. I would continue to use the guiding principle of getting my ideas from music. I practice my leitmotif by adding music to my painterly and graphic works in the stories. So the audience can experience which music has inspired me, furthermore I name the works in places according to music titles from different genres.
