Aika is a Japanese artist, born in Sakurajima, a unique island created from a volcanic mountain, part of Kagoshima prefecture. At a young age, she loved drawing, and was very introverted. She often had a hard time connecting with others. She began her artistic career as a performer. It was natural for her to discover the joy of expressing her emotions through a moving, dynamic art form. She has performed in clubs, music festivals and has been featured in music videos. She moved to Los Angeles in 2012, where she studied fashion design and started making clothes. She worked for a prestigious couture brand, and with a desire to learn the skills of the finest craftsmanship, she subsequently moved to Paris to immerse herself in the Parisian couture scene by working at an atelier on Rue Cambon. Recently as the pandemic dampened activity in the fashion industry, she began looking for another way to express herself freely which led her to discover the creative possibilities opened up by AI (artificial intelligence). Whereas the fashion industry often imposes restrictions of gender, beauty ideals and trends, she found through her digital art the freedom to express her authentic natural human emotions and her imaginary world including those such as depression and struggle, often deemed too taboo to express to each other whether in person or on social media.

Aika’s mission is to inspire people to celebrate all kinds of human emotions, to express themselves and connect on a deeper level regardless of gender, race or social status.
