Carolin Nischwitz
Painter
Bio
Carolin Nischwitz, 35, based in Essen, Germany. She loves to upcycle things, so no wonder that she loves to use old, used 3.5 inch floppy disks as canva for her artworks. For Carolin, it is very special to present her art on the first data carrier in the world. It reminds a whole generation how it started. As a psychologist she really enjoys her time in my atelier with her floppy disks. It is the perfect life balance. All her emotions of the day can be used in art. In 2019 Carolin has won her first audience price on an art fair with 80 other artists.
STATEMENT
“Well, why not? Why throw them away – it is better to do interesting artworks out of it.
I use old 3.5 inch floppy disks as canvas and assemble them disk by disk. It is like a puzzle.
My favorite size are 3x3 floppy Disk – 30cm square of emotion. Furthermore the attraction of the pictures are that they have two faces. One story is told in daylight, the other when the black light (uv light) comes on. Then the picture tell you another story”
