Maria Balderas
Painter
Bio
Maria was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 6 and a DACA recipient. Her love for art was deepened during this transition because it allowed her to express herself and cope with the challenges that came at a young age. She has participated and won numerous art projects but her professional art career began in 2016 with a series that showcased her unique perspective during uncertain times.
Her culture, life experiences and concerns as a person, immigrant and as a woman serve as inspiration for her works. This has given her opportunities to share her art with non-profit organizations such as: “Caminar Latino”, “Council of Mexico”, “GTO Secretaria del migrante”, and more. She has also collaborated with the “Latin American Association” as a contestant and juror for a number of their annual youth Art Contest. Maria had her first solo exhibition in 2018 and has since continued to exhibit and take part in virtual events, auctions, and recognitions.
