Soni Miekkavaara There's a tear in the universe. Something peculiar is trying to emerge to our consciousness. As an artist my job is to peek from that tear and pull out the things we don't always wish to see. Ugly and dark things. Also beautiful and luminous. There is no light without the darkness. Light and shadows dance together. Life is about contrasts – for me art is too. The fight between good and evil is the oldest tale in the books. That's where I cast my eyes over and over again. With an invisible thread my soul is connected to a supernova somewhere in the middle of the universe. That's where my art comes from. I have no power over it. I'm just painting things that I pull out. Sometimes it's exciting. Sometimes it gets scary. But I have no choice. It's out of my hands.
